Not as much as I would like, although I don’t like to leave my horse for too long. I’ve been to quite a few places in England, Spain, Italy, France and Belgium but I’d like to do a lot more. Maybe when I’ve finished my PhD I can take some time off to travel. I have friends that live in New Zealand, I’ve always wanted to go there!

Yes, like Amelia – not as much as I’d like!

With work I’ve travelled to several places in the USA (San Francisco being my favourite), to France, Spain and to Greece, as well as all over the UK. I often use travel to conferences as an excuse to go on holiday in that country after the conference, which is great fun.

I have travelled all round Europe in my own time, whilst I was at school and later on when I was at university. One nice thing about working in science is you always make many friends who are from overseas, and then you can go stay with them. I prefer to visit countries in this way, and to spend time doing the things that residents of those countries do, something that you can miss out on when you visit a country on a tourist trip.

As often as I can. I went to Singapore a few months back to conduct experiments. I was only there 12 days and had to work nonstop but in between experiments I tried to see/explore/experience everything. One day, while waiting for an experiment to finish, I went on a reverse bungee slingshot thing, and sampled all kinds of crazy cuisine- I even ate fried bugs!
