      interesting question. As with a lot of things depression isn’t completely inherited, but scientists believe that depression is partly passed on through the genes. This probably means that certain forms of certain genes influence how likely it is that you suffer from depression, so that if you inherit those from your parents you’re more likely to get it, but not 100% – for that there are environmental factors that also play a role
