I was really happy when I first arrived at the University of Leeds to study as it’s a good university, however, it was the first time I’d lived in a city of this size, and I initially found that quite difficult.
I grew up in the countryside of Cumbria, surrounded by hills and fields; I also studied for my first degree at a university by the sea in Wales, so I was used to open spaces and not many buildings. Eventually I realised that Leeds isn’t really that big (my work has taken me to REALLY big cities that make Leeds look like a village), and it’s surrounded by beautiful countryside, so now I love being here.
