  Well before the Sun explodes it will expand to form a Red Giant. This will likely expand over the Earth. More info in this link:

  However as you said this is 5 billion years away so who know where the human race will be then? Will we still be on Earth? Will we have travelled to other planets and abandoned Earth? Will we have evolved into something else (very likely)?
