It doesn’t so much stop ‘peeing’ as territorial ‘spraying’, which is what they do to claim ownership of things. Males who have been neutered have reduced male hormone, testosterone, which alters some of the behaviours people dislike in dogs such as aggression, and spraying. Needless to say it is possible to use training to address these, but it’s always worthwhile controlling how many puppies a male makes.
