      Well intelligence works on many levels and I don’t think many could beat Hawking’s Mathematical or analytical mind. Whilst I’m sure he’s capable of turning his mind to my area of biology, it’s unlikely he would, and he’d still have to do a considerable amount of reading to learn about the area. It comes down to what you define as clever, but in this regard I might consider someone who can perform mental feats that amaze most other scientists as being pretty clever.

      Whilst I know plenty about my science, and indeed many other things, I don’t think I have mental skills that numerous other scientists in my field couldn’t also demonstrate.

      Probably Stephen Hawkins. But like Jim says it depends how you define intelligence. His area of expertise is very different to mine but I would think he probably has a much higher IQ than me.
