My favourite subject at school (other than science) was geography, but I only really started loving geography after GCSEs when I did an A-level in it. I loved studying about different nationalities and cultural differences (human geography); I also loved the more physical aspects of geography, such as how the landscape formed. My other favourite subject at school (in year 7, 8 and 9) was history though.

      Hi isihasswag,

Apart from science I really liked music – I only did it at O-level, but still play piano and trumpet (a bit). It made me appreciate how similar all music is (I like classical music AND electronica), how there is bit of maths underlying good sounds and harmonies, and also that great music can influence our emotions…

I listen to music as much as possible and often use it to help me concentrate – I find fast dance music is great to read science by – gets those neurons fizzing!

Hmm a tie between gym and art class. Science was the clear front runner- and ever since I was a kid I loved learning about it and trying out experiments. I also really like sports, next to lab, still my favorite place to be is on a soccer (oops I mean football) field. I also really like to draw- my new fav past time is incorporating my science into art. And what I learned on the field or drawing definitely helps make me a better scientist- learn to work hard and appreciate the beauty of a cool experiment.

Favourite subject apart from science was probably latin (or classics as it’s called).

It’s not a subject many schools do and I was lucky enough to study it. It’s very appealing to a scientist brain as it’s very logical and all the words follow set patterns. But I alo loved hearing the stories about the romans and I still love going to Italy to learn more.
